Columbia Anesthesiology Early-Career Investigators Receive FAER Research Grants

We are proud to announce that Dr. Julie Hwang and Dr. Anjan Saha are the recipients of highly competitive grants from the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) as part of the organization's Spring 2026 grant cycle. The awards recognize promising physician-investigators whose research projects have the potential to advance the science and practice of anesthesiology while improving patient care.

The FAER awarded a total of $1.68 million in Spring 2026 research funding to support early-career investigators across the United States. The grants provide protected research time, mentorship, and resources that help physician-scientists build successful careers as independent investigators and future leaders in academic anesthesiology.

The selection of Drs. Hwang and Saha reflects both the quality of their research and Columbia's longstanding commitment to fostering innovation, discovery, and scientific excellence. FAER President and Chief Scientific Officer Max B. Kelz, MD, PhD, noted that this year's funded projects represent significant value to the field and highlighted the enthusiasm and promise demonstrated by the awardees.

Please join us in congratulating Drs. Hwang and Saha and their mentors on this outstanding achievement.
