CUMC Anesthesiology meets students from CUNY Pipeline Program

In July, residents Dr. Pam Chavero (Chief Resident, CA-3) and Dr. Jared Katz (CA-1), recent obstetric anesthesia fellow Dr. Anne-Sophie Janvier, and Officer for DE&I Dr. Allison Lee participated in an inaugural virtual mentoring event with medical students from several classes at the Sophie Davis/CUNY School of Medicine.

The Sophie Davis Biomedical Education Program is a pipeline program that recruits talented and motivated students from underserved communities, with limited financial resources, and from racial/ethnic backgrounds historically underrepresented in the medical profession, to a seven-year BS/MD program at the City College of New York.

The virtual coaching session provided the opportunity for our staff to answer questions about what drew them to the field of anesthesiology, to give tips on putting together a strong residency application, and to provide advice on how to approach interviews. We look forward to building on this relationship and supporting the members of this unique program.
