High School Students Experience "A Day in the Life" of an Anesthesiologist

A group of 20 students from in and around Washington Heights had the hands-on experience of “a day in the life” of an anesthesiologist this summer at the Margaret Wood Center for Simulation and Education. Working alongside our faculty, CRNAs, residents, and medical students, they participated in learning about intubation, inserting an IV, performing a cardiovascular exam, suturing, and performing an ultrasound of the heart. After lunch, they got to experience a demo of one of our educational virtual reality programs.

This program was made possible by a 2021 grant awarded by the provost’s office.
