Every year since 1998, the Academic Evening has celebrated scientific excellence in the scholarly collaboration of our residents, fellows, postdocs, and research associates with the department's faculty. At this year's event, more than 50 abstracts represented these partnerships.

The top abstracts of the 26th Annual Academic Evening were ranked by a selection committee comprised of the following faculty members: Mitchell F. Berman, MD; Jeanine M. Smiley, MD, PhD; Lena S. Y. Sun, MD; Guang Yang, PhD.

Our visiting guest judge, Vivianne Tawfik, MD, PhD, had the honor of selecting the first and second place awards. Dr. Tawfik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative & Pain Medicine, Stanford University.
