Ruth Landau, MD, Appointed Editor-in-Chief of Obstetric Anesthesia Journal
Dr. Ruth Landau, Virginia Apgar Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of the Division of Obstetric Anesthesia, has been appointed editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Obstetric Anesthesia.
Dr. Landau is a globally recognized researcher, master clinician, academic leader, and mentor in the field. She is a pioneer in the development of opioid-sparing protocols for cesarean delivery and post-operative pain management, work that has had impact across the field of obstetric anesthesia. Dr. Landau’s leadership accomplishments include her role as Director of the Center for Precision Medicine in Anesthesiology, and recent past President of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology. She is devoted to her mentees and has helped launch the careers of many of the field’s current leaders in obstetric anesthesia.
In an announcement to the department, Dr. Tricia Brentjens, Professor of Anesthesiology and the department's interim Chair, wrote "Dr. Landau’s background and dedication to research, clinical care, and education in obstetric anesthesia will contribute to the journal's continued success and impact."
