Dr. Sheikh is returning to New York City after 15 years of building her career at institutions around the country: she earned a master’s degree in public health at the University of Texas, her medical degree at Texas Tech University in El Paso, completed residency training at Loyola University in Chicago, and moved to the Bay Area for her fellowship at Stanford.
Outside of medicine, her interests are writing, live music, dance, hiking, yoga, and travel, which she looks forward to doing again. She also enjoys teaching and mentoring, and her academic interests include heart disease in pregnancy, point-of-care ultrasound, and quality improvement. She was called the “Matriarch of Wellness” in residency, an unofficial title that she was proud to have. She would like to continue those efforts by helping to mitigate physician burnout, particularly among trainees.
